According to OSHA, buildings constructed prior to 1981 are more likely to contain materials with asbestos than properties constructed after this date. However, asbestos is unfortunately still used by some building material manufacturers. At Evergreen Air Quality Services, we work with both new and old construction and are able to keenly tailor our testing based on the era in which the property was built or renovated. 

What is asbestos and why is it harmful?

Asbestos is a group of naturally occurring minerals that happen to be heat-resistant. While this quality made asbestos a desirable material to work with, over the years it’s been discovered that proximity to asbestos can cause horrible conditions such as mesothelioma, lung cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
